Affiliated Laboratory Services

Our laboratory was established in 1983 as a regional reference lab designed to provide a full range of testing services to hospitals, long term care facilities and physicians’ offices in the Bangor, Maine area. Today these same services extend to healthcare providers throughout Northern New England.

To better serve our clients ALI/Portland was formed in 1988 and the following year ALI/Webber was established in Bangor as a drawing station and STAT lab. In 1997 the Vermont Physician’s Lab was created in Rutland, Vt. and in 1998 ALI assumed total operations and management responsibility for lab services on the Eastern Maine Medical Center campus.

ALI technicians use advanced instrumentation and methodologies to perform assays with accuracy, precision and efficiency. Approximately 98% of tests requested are performed at ALI. ALI’s 24-hour Client Services Center staff answer your questions, facilitate requests and address concerns promptly and courteously. Our comprehensive courier network ensures "same day" processing of specimens regardless of your location; and our Courier Services personnel are thoroughly trained in the handling of medical specimens and transport needing dry ice. We also furnish all necessary supplies for collection; blood collection tubes, needles, needle holders, slides, specimen bags and requisition forms. All test reports include expected values. Normal operating procedure mandates that all STATS and clinically significant abnormals are immediately telephoned, as are any special requests on the original requisition.

Follow-up hardcopies are also courier, mailed or electronically delivered to you by ClinScan your on-site partner for lab processing and reporting. The Clinsan system includes a quality computer installed right in your office through which you can order tests directly to ALI, receive results, track patient and group histories and print out results and reports.
